Default Memory structure of S60 smartphones

There are several different types of memory found in S60 smartphones:

Disk C: - Flash memory based storage ("disk") memory. This disk is used for storing user data, files and applications. Disk C: is a Flash disk, which means that it preserves its contents even when the power is off or the battery is removed. Old S60 phones like the 7650 or 3650 only had about 4 MB C: drive. New S60 phones usually have tens of megabytes of internal storage available for the user. This memory also stores your settings, important system data files, Contacts and Calendar databases and more. My c5-00 has 68.2 mb.

Disk D: - so called "RAM-disk" (size depends on phone: about 400 kilobytes in older phones, about 20 MB in newer phones. This disk is created in DRAM memory, which means it is volatile. It is meant for internal system use and not to be used by the phone user. Some applications temporarily store their data on this disk, which makes them work faster (DRAM memory is much faster than Flash). It doesn't make any sense to save any user data on D: because all contents of this disk are lost when you switch the phone off or reboot the system. c5 has 25.2 mb.

Disk E: - memory card. Memory cards (in MMC or SD format) can be used to expand the built in storage memory (disk C. On memory cards, users can install applications and store different kinds of data (e.g. music, videos, documents, etc). Memory cards use Flash memory, which means that they preserve their contents even if the phone is turned off or the card is removed. now a days we use 2 gb to 8 gb micro sd cards.

Disk Z: - read only Flash memory containing the Symbian operating system. Contents of Z: drive cannot be modified by the user as this memory area is protected and read only. Firmware upgrade can only be made by authorized service centres using special Flash programming devices and Nokia service software called Phoenix.

Operating memory (RAM) - this memory is for program execution. It is not visible as a "disk" or drive letter like C: or Z: and it is not directly available to the user. Think of it as of RAM memory of your desktop computer: you don't save any files or data in it, it is only used by the system and applications. Of course, the more of it the better as it lets you execute more advanced programs or run more applications at the same time. Old Symbian OS phones like 7650 or 3650 only had 8 MB RAM of which about 3,5 MB was free. New S60 phones have 128 MB RAM of which about 60-70 MB is free.

Sis / Sisx App Delete Stuck Installer Files in s60v3

I have faced problem of "stuck" installer files in S60 3rd Edition phones n79 many times. The information from Application Manager shows thatthe applications are not installed. However, they cannot be deleted because there is no Delete menu . They cannot be re-installed either because it always fails with "Unable to install". Those files are basically just stuck there.
You wont be able to install any new application and you cant use file manager for moving files then.
To solve this problem you need to do the following
    Code:
Go to \private\10202dce folder of the drive you have installed the application
. There, you should be able to find the installer files (.sis). Just delete these files.

Default How To Find Old Site Content

Every once in a while, you want something that is no longer available online. Most times itís a page or site you thought youíd saved, or you bookmarked, but has run itís course and been taken down or replaced with other content.Iím going to show you two ways to get to that old content, or at least give you a shot at getting to it.
    Method #1 Ė Google Cache
The first thing to try is looking for the content in Google Cache. Simply do a search for what youíre after, the more specific the better such as page name, site domain, URL, etc. When the results come up, see if there is a Cached version such as what is shown to the right.
If a Cached result shows up, clickit and see if itís what youíre after. Oftentimes the navigation and whatnot will be in tact.
Iím not sure how long Cached results are kept. Iím guessing it depends on the popularity of the content, how often changes weremade, type and size of content, etc.
    Method #2 Ė Archive.org
If the Google Cache results donít yield what youíre after, another option is checking for the content on Archive.org. On the site, in the center of the page, youíll find the WayBackMachine. According to the site, 150 billion pages are archived there. Plug in the address of the site youíre looking for content from and youíll be presented with a range of dates showing different snapshots of the site content over time.
Whatís available here is a crap shoot, however it has come in pretty handy a number of times. You can use this site to check out domains youíre thinking of purchasing to see what kind of content were previously offered on them, look at old versions of your site for fun, or retrieve old content such as weíre doing here.
Just click on one of the dates to see what the site looked like at that point in time.
One little tip. If youíre looking for content that was previously password protected or hidden with a little investigative work looking into the URL structure, you can oftentimes get to the content since most of the scripts used to protect the content will no longer be in use. Doesnít always work, but Iíve been able to dig up old content with some trial and error searching of specific URLs.
There you have it. If youíre looking for old content, thereís a couple of ways to try and find it

Default How to Keep Your Password safe from Hacking ?

Password are the keys that will make us connect in cyberspace. Often these passwords is a frightening specter for Internet users. Why so? Yes, often many try to break the password that we have. Even many people who become victims because of their password stolen.
Well, how do I keep the password that we have remained safe? Here are some tips.
    1. Not Using Default Password
The default password is the password that we can be the first time. This default password should indeed be quickly replaced because of very vulnerable. The reason, the default password can be easily searched on google search, even there are listed the name of a machine, type and default password with a magnificent plastered on some website creators vendors.

Sometimes administrators fear of forgetting to change-change the default password, so that an intruder can take over the system with default passwords.
    2. Not Wearing Password Hint
Sometimes we are afraid to forget the password that was our entry into the system / account, so we need to create a reminder if we forget the password. Now this is called password reminder Hint, if we create a password hint question with this then we can quickly recall these forgotten passwords.
Likewise with the hackers, they°Įll experiment with us to guess the password in the password hint questions, over time the password will be predictable, if the questions listed in the password hint can be answered by the penebak password.

    3. Never Write Password
Owners are often afraid to forgetyour password with the password has been entered, so the owner would write different passwords user id and password into other media such as a notebook, notepad, Stickies (mac), password folders, books, mobile phones and other.
It is also quite vulnerable to leaking. Why vulnerable? Because if the various equipment is lost, then all information about a user id and password are sooner or later willbe known by the thief equipments / gadgets are missing.

    4.Use Strong Password
Owner passwords often using a short password only, if it could be shorter than 3 characters thenthe user will give a short password. Fortunately this time the system provides a minimum password length of 6 characters and a maximum of 254 characters. The longer a password the stronger it will be the password security.
Strong passwords can be createdwith a combination of numbers and letters and even a variety of other characters. Some admins are currently using a password that is long enough, coupled with encryption such as PGP key and others, so it is quite difficultto guess password.

    5. Always Change Password Periodically
Owners should periodically change your password for authentication password, the more frequent password changes, the better, because the more difficult the penebak password hacking account / yoursystem. Changes to the password depends on the owner, could be a week, a month, three months, and others. Originally the owner does not forget the password that was changed earlier.

    6. Not Using Same Password on Multiple Accounts
Owners often forget and sometimes passwords frequentlyenough to create an account, so they each create a new account using the same user id and password are the same, this is very vulnerable and dangerous. Because these passwords through a single account, all accounts will be taken by the hacker.

    7. Using Password Management
To help recall the various passwords and various accounts,we are often very difficult, but not to worry because it has many current applications to help organize our passwords. This application can be downloaded for free from the internet and paid, so that regardless of our account and whatever we can with the password easy to remember and re-opened, of course, to open it with an encryption method as well.

Popular Open multiple facebook, gmail, yahoo, orkut, youtube account in one browser !!

Some time we require to Login to our different accounts of Facebook, Gmail, Yahoo, Orkut etc without Signing Out from first one. If you are in such situation then you can use a Firefox Addon called Multifox which allows Firefox to connect to websites using different user names Simultaneously!. IsnĀ0Ą3Ā0Ö4t that great.
For that you require Firefox Internet browser which you can get freely from Firefox Website.
For example, if you have multiple Gmail accounts, you can open them all at the same time. Each Firefox window, managed by Multifox, accesses an account without interfering each other. Just follow below step to get Multifox Addon on your Firefox.

1.Go to And click on Install (Install for your Firefox Ver 3.6 or 4)

2.It may give you a pop up to allow it. Just click allow and you will see a install window. Click On Install.

3.After Installing you will be asked to Restart your Firefox. Just save your work and Restart.

    4. After restarting your browser you can right click on Tab menu and then select Open in a new
    Identity profile

    5. It will open a new Firefox Window where you can log in to your second account freely without Log out from 1st one. Hope this trick help you.

Sis / Sisx App How To Select Multiple Items On 5800 XpressMusic

one of the things that is, currently missing from even the latest firmware for the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic is the ability to select multiple items in a list, without having to highlight eachitem, then go to options>mark for each one. This used to be accomplished by holding down the pencil key on older handsets, such as the Nokia N95, but starting with the N82 (I believe), the pencil key was banished to the nether-regions, with the # key taking over the responsibilities.
Since the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic doesnít have a # key, users have been left to individually select each item, which can be a real pain. Fortunately, the S60 developer community has come to the rescue, with Jbak Pencil , from the same guy who brought you Jbak Taskman .
Jbak Pencil is freeware, and allows you to assign one of the three buttons on the 5800 XpressMusic to replicate the pencil key functionality. *Please note that it is distributed as unsigned, which means that you will have to use Symbian Signedís Open Signed procedure to sign it before you will be able to install it. Donít worry, itís a really easy process.
Once installed, youíll be greeted with a simple red screen. From here, you should press whatever button you want to be the Ďpencilí key. I would recommend the red Ďendí key. Now press save, and then back, and you should be good go to. Simply hold the button down to select multiple items in a list, or highlight one and press the key, then move to the next one. Itís that easy!
Hopefully, this will be fixed in a future firmware update for the 5800 XpressMusic, where we could simply to go options>select multiple or something. In the meantime, bigthanks to Jbak, and if you use the app, be sure to donate for a job well done

I am lucky finder, ready learner & happy helper.
